So much mathing

May 4, 2017

So much mathing today trying to figure out alllll the things.

Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the following?

  • $15 for a 1 page kit (printed instructions and patterns plus all the felt/fabric/ribbon/velcro (no thread) for a single quiet page)

In the scenario above, all 8 quiet pages would be available, but you’d have to buy them as individual 1-page kits. I’d probably offer a discount when you buy all 8. These single page kits would likely be packaged in a big envelope with a metal clasp in the back and a big sticker on the front to show the finished quiet page for that kit.

I’d maybe do $10/single page kit, but I’d only earn roughly half as much per kit and it would make it hard for me to offer them to shops.

OR

  • $95 for a complete kit with everything you’d need to make all 8 quiet pages. These would be packaged in a sturdy clamshell cardboard box with a big sticker on the front showing all 8 quiet pages.

Thoughts? Feelings?

Just FYI, in either kit scenario above, I’d still be planning to also offer the complete 8 page set of patterns as an instant download PDF for $10.

So. Much. Mathing. Please weigh in.

I like the idea of the complete kit for all 8 pages, and that price is more than I would think to spend originally, but it’s not unreasonable. When I worked at Deseret Book the quiet books were roughly $40 and quilt kits that were more like $80-90. People always asked if there were kits for making their own quiet books. My point is that only part of the value is the finished product and the rest of the value is in getting to create something without having to think it all up yourself and gather the materials.

I definitely like the idea of having a kit per page. Even though I know that will be more work for you. But I think some people might want to try just a page or two instead of plunging in for the whole kit. And I don’t think $15/page is unreasonable at all. 🙂

Thanks em! And yeah, I think you def have a good point about people wanting to try it out before committing to the whole thing. Haha, I can totally relate to that. 😜 Thanks for your insights on this!!
